Built near the sea, the consultants had to consider the effects of chlorides in the soil on the concrete structures. Grace's DCI® S Corrosion Inhibitor was finally chosen for its effectiveness in concrete protection against the corrosive action of chlorides. DCI S was used in the construction of the Water of Taiwan Pavilion and Coral Kingdom Pavilion.

A total of 500,000 square metres of Grace products have been applied in the construction of the North East Line. Preprufe and Bituthene waterproofing membranes were applied in the tunnels and stations. Bituthene 6000 EIM Electrical Insulation Membrane was used on some of the station platforms, and Grace Ice & Water Shield as a roofing underlayment for the metal roofs of the Punggol station. On the structural steel was spray-applied MK-6/HY fireproofing.

• Dust Control: By restricting the mixing of the product to a designated area, dust emission is controlled, a great advantage when the project is located in busy commercial or financial districts.
• Minimises Water Spillage: Mix water delivery to the mixer is direct. Water is conveyed via a hose from a reservoir to the machine and there is no need for the operator to manually transport the water.
• More Usable Space Per Floor: It is not necessary to store product on every floor, hence freeing up lots of additional working space for the spray crew and other trades. Less obstacles means better operative safety.
• Faster Completion Time: Productivity of a centralised pumping station exceeds a conventional set up, by at least 50%.
